The temperatures have cooled off these past weeks, and we’ve taken advantage of the beautiful weather to get away. Last weekend Rachel surprised me with a weekend getaway to Marianna, about 2 hours east of here. We stayed at a Bed & Breakfast, did a little antiquing at an extraordinary old Victorian-era hotel, and went canoeing down the Chipola River. Apparently Marianna was a popular place, because I know of at least 2 other families from PCC that were there on the same weekend!
On the home front, we’ve started with the first stages of some major home makeovers. Nothing so major as an addition or finishing the garage, but we realize that we won’t be living in this house forever. Rather than wait until we sell it to fix it up for top dollar, we’ve decided to “design to sell” now, and actually have time to enjoy the renovations. We’ve started by simply finishing some painting that we never did when we moved in, and we’re looking at new flooring and maybe a whole redesign of the kitchen. These will take some time, but we’re looking forward to the results. Perhaps I’ll post some before-and-after pictures as we finish each step.
